Supporting our members. Strengthening our industry. Serving our community.
Our mission is to increase the representation of Black professionals within the financial regulatory industry, at all levels of seniority.
Financial regulators implement and enforce critical legislation, such as the Community Reinvestment Act and the Fair Housing Act, that directly impacts Black people, who are often a key stakeholder demographic. Additionally, regulators are entrusted with the responsibility of making critical decisions regarding financial assistance during times of economic and financial distress. Black people have a direct interest in the outcomes of financial regulation. Thus, we need representation in spaces where regulatory decisions are made.
Recruiting the Next Generation
Many college and graduate students have not yet been properly introduced to the financial regulatory industry. They do not have familiarity with the impactful mission-driven work that we do. BFRA aims to implement recruiting programs to help make our industry more attractive to future Black professionals and ensure our continued representation.
Continuing Education for Regulators
We endeavor to create impactful continuing education programs to address the needs of our members. From training on the latest rules and regulations to new reg tech solutions, we aim to help Black financial regulators stay up to date on the latest developments of the industry.
Support for Our Community
Education happens within the context of a larger community. Our goal here is to ensure our members are connected with and impactful to our communities.
Professional Networking for Members
We endeavor to create spaces for Black financial regulators to come together and build relationships. From casual virtual events to formal conferences with keynote speakers. Our members will have the opportunity to get to know the players in our industry.
“With the support of theBFRA, our members will become more connected and better prepared for their next challenge.”
— Jason Roberts, BFRA Founder, Federal Reserve Bank of New York
